Taylor Swift announces "surprise" album coming out in October

The singer says her new album will be out in October!

Taylor Swift is ready to serve her fans some new music. 

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the global superstar announced that she will be releasing an album soon. 

"Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you!" she wrote on Instagram. 

'1989' is the fifth studio album by the singer, released on 27 October 2014 under Big Machine Records. 

Taylor has now gone back to studio to re-record the album so that she owns the full rights to her music. 

The singer spoke about how the '1989' album changed her life. 

"The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th."

She added that it is her favourite re-record. 

"To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind," she wrote.

In other news, Taylor is leading the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards nominations. 

She received eight nominations, including 'Artist of the Year', 'Song of the Year', and 'Video of the Year' for her hit song, 'Anti-Hero'. 

She is followed by SZA who received six nominations. 

Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, and Kim Petras received five nominations each.  

 The awards take place in September at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
