The Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve is hosting a beautiful event for residents of all ages in Durban!

Whether you’re an avid hiker or a beginner, this is the perfect space to be in this June.

The nature reserve, based in Yellowwood Park, is home to an array of beautiful animals that you can see along the route.

The walk also includes wheelchair-friendly spaces, ensuring everyone is catered to! 

Some other highlights include:

  • Opportunities to take pictures of and with zebras

  • Exploration of the iconic Coedmore Castle

  • Visiting the dam and spotting birdlife

  • Walking through historic ruins in the forest

  • A look through the hidden cemetery with old tombstones and the ruins of an old chapel.

Meeting point: Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve Car Park
Start time: 7:30 AM
Duration: Ranging between two and four hours.
What to bring: Snacks, drinks (water is essential), walking shoes, a hat and a small backpack.

Cost of the Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve Hike

NOTE: There is an entrance fee to the nature reserve, which is NOT included in the costs below. This is R60 per adult and R30 per child.

There are two distance options to accommodate everyone. These include:

Distance: 4km
Cost: R99 per adult and R69 for kids under 13.

Distance: 10km
Cost: R149 per adult and R99 for kids under 13.

“This event goes ahead rain or shine! Only extreme weather (hail, heavy rain, etc.) will cause a cancellation. Light rain just adds to the adventure – bring a raincoat and enjoy the fresh air,” the nature reserve said.
