Watch: Bakkie 'reeled in' by strong waves in Ballito
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
An ordinary fishing trip took a scary turn this past weekend when the ocean decided to get a closer look at a fisherman's bakkie.

Herman Labuschagne decided to take a little fishing trip on Sunday morning at Salmon Bay in Ballito but was taken by surprise when his bakkie decided to 'go for a swim'.
Dirk Kriel of the Ballito Ski Boat Club was assisting Herman Labuschagne in launching his boat into the bay when things took an unexpected turn. Kriel suddenly found himself submerged in the ocean after it decided to pull the boat and Labuschagne's bakkie in.
When Kriel realised he was getting into some trouble, he quickly jumped out of the driver's side window.
The men tried the permanent winch installed at the club’s launch site, as well as two other bakkies to try and get it out, but both attempts were unsuccessful.
The tide was so strong that eventually the Fire Department had to pull the vehicle out. Needless to say, it was pretty beaten up when it got back to shore.
According to Wheels24, firefighters retrieved the vehicle and even managed to save the two people inside the boat. Thank goodness!
