Companies will continue to train employees as new
technology develops, but they expect their employees to take steps themselves
to keep abreast of new technology and new ways of doing things.

That means employees cannot afford to sit on their laurels and wait for the employer to dish things up on a plate for them. They have to read industry journals, attend seminars, join communities of practice, and be curious about “what’s new, what’s coming, what’s happening.”
Nothing impresses like an employee who brings something new to a meeting, that even the company bosses have not yet heard about.
