Angels Care Centre is a non-profit organisation based in Howick, KZN Midlands.

Carolyn, Georgina, and the team at the centre focus on breaking the cycle of poverty and addressing children’s needs through early childhood education, nutrition, general health care, trauma containment in times of crisis, youth development programmes, as well as community outreach initiatives.

Their educational programmes encompass an Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) for 75 children aged between four and seven, a bridging class for 11 children who have never had access to education, and a youth development programme consisting of tutoring and homework assistance for 50 primary and high school students, as well as sports coaching.

Their nutritional programme provides breakfast and lunch to the 130 children attending any of the educational programmes, along with the distribution of 300 - 350 weekly food parcels for children who go to the Centre on a Saturday morning.

During 2018 – their crisis centre staff brought comfort and healing to 169 children who were victims of sexual assault, trauma, grief or chronic disease. The centre also offers 24-hour overnight care to children when required.

These children come from the surrounding informal settlement where blankets and warm clothing is unheard of. Some of the children arrive at Angels Care with no shirt or shoes, shivering in the icy conditions.

Pastor Rajen Naidoo from Salt and Sunshine Ministries immediately jumped on board and popped into East Coast Radio to deliver some good news.

Salt and Sunshine Ministries are a community-oriented church with the heart and determination to share the love, goodness and caring nature of Jesus with the nations of the world.

The Church’s headquarters on 37 Main Road, Malvern, Durban is the Church’s gathering point and various teachings and programmes are planned and executed through the year so that their leaders purposefully ensure the ministry God has given the church expands continuously.

He and members of his congregation will soon be heading off to Howick to Angels Care to give 300 children their own pair of gloves and a beanie.

Not only that, but they will also supply the 300 children with blankets and take a warm meal, some refreshments and spend some time singing with the children.
