Competition Terms

1           All participants in this campaign agree that the campaign rules as set out in these terms and conditions are binding on them. A copy of these rules is available to all participants and can be downloaded from the Absa website by searching Absa Brand Campaign 2025.

2           The organisers of this campaign are Absa and MediaHeads 360. For the purposes of this promotional campaign, Absa Bank Limited means Absa, with registration number 1986/004794/06, and Absa Group Limited means a public company, with registration number 1986/003934/06, incorporated under the laws of the Republic of South Africa, a public company duly registered as a bank and incorporated in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with its registered address at 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, 2001. And Media Heads 360 (Pty) Ltd means Media Heads with registration number 2005/012368/07, a private company, duly incorporated in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with its registered address at No 5, 8th Street, AME Office Park, Houghton Estate, 2198.

3            Absa and Media Heads 360, their directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants, the suppliers of goods or services and their respective spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members are not permitted to participate in this promotional campaign.

4           The participant acknowledges that they have been given enough time to read these terms and conditions before participating in this campaign. The participant is aware of all the terms printed in bold.

Personal information:

5               Absa will only collect, store and use participants’ personal information, such as their name, age, telephone number and email address for the purposes of participation in the promotional campaign and for administering the campaign. This will not affect any existing marketing preferences that they have registered with Absa.

6               By participating in the campaign, participants’ personal information may be transferred to our service providers and agents (including their subcontractors) to store and use as necessary. We will never pass participants’ information to any third party for them to use in their own direct marketing without the participant’s consent.  

7               Participants’ personal information will be held on record for a period as necessary to administer the promotional campaign, in any event not more than 5 (five) years, and then securely destroyed.

9.1 The Brand Campaign Launch: #WeSeeYourStory

9.2 The Absa Brand Campaign: #WeSeeYourStory

9.2.1. Campaign Period:

The official Absa Brand Campaign will run from 12 May to 16 May 2025 (“the Campaign Period”).

9.2.2.  Prize Offering

Participants stand a chance to win their share of R400,000.00 (Four hundred thousand rand) in cash prizes during the Campaign Period.

9.2.3. Prize Allocation

A total of five (5) winners will be selected per participating station.

Each winner will receive R5,000.00 (Five thousand rand) in cash.

If a winner is an Absa customer, they will receive an additional R5,000.00 (Five thousand rand), bringing their total prize to R10,000.00 (Ten thousand rand).

9.2.4 Customer Verification

Absa will verify winners' details to confirm their status as Absa account holders. Only verified Absa customers will be eligible for the additional R5,000.00 cash prize.

9.2.5. Winner Communication and Documentation

A representative from Mediaheads360 will contact the selected winners to collect the following documentation:

i. Proof of an Absa bank account in good standing

ii. A clear copy of a valid South African identity document (ID)

9.3 How to enter the Absa Brand Campaign:

9.3.1 The listeners would need to tune in to any one of the following 8 (eight) radio stations each day during the Absa Brand Campaign period:

9.3.1       Umhlobo Wenene FM

9.3.2       Gagasi FM

9.3.3       East Coast Radio (ECR)

9.3.4       947

9.3.5       702

9.3.6       KFM

9.3.7       YFM

9.3.8       Metro FM

9.4 Participants must send the keyword #WeSeeYourStory on WhatsApp to 075 339 8226 to start the conversation via the WhatsApp bot. Participants are required to follow the WhatsApp prompts accurately to enter the Absa Brand Campaign.  

9.5 WhatsApp rates are in accordance with the participant’s mobile network service provider.

9.6 The Absa Brand Competition entries will be verified and managed by MediaHeads 360

       9.7 There are no forms to fill in and once you meet the requirements set out in these terms and conditions, you will automatically               be entered into the competition.

9.8 You may enter this competition and many as you want, however you will be eligible to win one prize.

Eligibility and qualifying criteria:

9.9 To qualify for the Absa Brand Campaign, the participant must:

9.9.1 Be a South African citizen, a permanent resident of South Africa or a foreign national residing lawfully in South Africa.

9.9.2 Provide correct and full personal contact details, as required.

9.9.3 Be 18 years and older.

9.9.4 Accept the campaign terms and conditions.

9.9.5 Be an active Absa Account customer to qualify for the additional R5 000.00 (Five thousand rand) cash prizes

To qualify for the Absa Brand on-air competition where there are prizes to be won on air per radio station and the following terms apply:

9.10.1 The presenter will randomly select one (1) qualifying entry and call the participant live on air. The presenter will explain the competition mechanics,

9.10.2 The presenter will play voice notes of the winner before they call them live on-air

9.10.3 The presenter will engage with the winner live on-air to share more about their human truth

        9.10.4 The presenter will award the winner the R5000.00 [ Five thousand rand] prize money and if she/he is an Absa customer, they will be awarded   an additional R 5000.00 (Five thousand rand).

Prizes

9.11 Each radio station will select 5 (five) participants during the Absa Brand Campaign period

     9.11.1 The winner(s) will receive their prize money in their existing bank account and if they are Absa account holders, the prize money will be paid into their Absa account, within 21 (twenty-one) business days from the end of the Absa Brand Campaign.

      9.11.2 If the winner (s) did not receive their prize money within the 21-working days, the winner (s) must call Mediaheads 360 for further assistance.

10. Absa is not obliged to award more than the defined prize.

10.1. Prize money cannot be transferred and will only be handed over if all details given are factually correct;

10.2. Will not be exchanged for anything other than the prize offered in this campaign; and

11  Once the prize has been handed over in terms of these rules, the results of the campaign are final in all respects and no correspondence will be allowed.

12  When the winner(s) accepts their prize, Absa would appreciate the right to identify the winner by taking their story (at no fee to be paid to the winner at any stage during and after the campaigb period) and publishing this in the relevant media as decided by Absa. Absa does, however, acknowledge the winner’s right to choose not to be identified and may refuse to have their story published in printed media or to appear on radio and television.

13  If the winner has given their written consent, Absa has the right to publish the winner’s name and/or photographs (at no fee) in any advertising, promotional, print, point-of-sale or public relations material. The nature of these publications will be determined at the sole discretion of Absa, for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of the draw.

14 Absa is not liable in any way for any direct or indirect loss or damage because of participants’ participation in the campaign.

15 If Absa cannot continue with the campaign for any reason beyond its reasonable control or if it is required by any regulatory terms or applicable law, Absa may end or alter the terms of the campaign on condition that:

16. No participants have qualified for the campaign yet; and reasonable notice has been given beforehand to all participants; and

17. If the campaign is ended as set out in these terms and conditions, no participant will have any claim of any nature whatsoever against Absa.

18. The competition and terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

19. All winners, in addition to complying with these terms and conditions, must comply with any other terms and conditions of the organisers, suppliers and third parties involved in the campaign to participate and accept their prize (if applicable).

20. We may declare the prize forfeited (and we may choose a new prize winner, if:

20.1 A winner’s entry is not valid.

20. 2 A winner has breached these terms and conditions.

20.3 A winner cannot be contacted or t the prize is not accepted by the winner within the agreed time periods or

20.4 A winner gives up the prize.

21 If there is a dispute in respect of these terms and conditions or the campaign, our decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

22 We are not responsible if a participant’s entry is not successfully submitted or if a winner does not successfully receive or take up a prize for any reason including, but not limited to, a technological failure.

23. Amendments to the terms and conditions:

a.     Absa is entitled to amend the terms and conditions hereof in so far as same is deemed necessary and such amendments may relate to any aspect of such campaign:

                       i.     The amendments may include the addition and/or deletion of any existing and/or proposed terms and conditions of the campaign, which amendments may also affect the identified prize, including but not limited to any cash prize of such campaign;

                        ii.     The proposed amendments may be affected before the start date of the campaign and during the campaign period, which amendments may result in the campaign period being reduced and/or extended as deemed necessary; and

                       iii.     It is the participant’s responsibility to regularly check the website where the campaign rules are made available as per clause 1 for any amendments.

24. In the event that the terms and conditions of this campaign are amended in terms of clause 20, such amendments will become effective immediately or on such date as may be determined by Absa. However, all participants who have received confirmation of the prize before such will remain eligible to receive the prize that has been awarded to them in accordance with the terms and conditions in force when they were selected as participants.

25. No participant will have any recourse or claim against Absa for any direct or indirect loss or damage as a result of any amendment to these terms and conditions or as a result of Absa’s cancellation, termination or suspension of the campaign in line with these terms and conditions.
