KZN sexual abuse victim speaks out
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A KwaZulu-Natal sexual abuse survivor has decided to speak out about the time she had to tell her parents her most trusted uncle abused her.
''Where was my pride, it's all gone. Okay, where to from here? I really didn't know,'' she said.
The high school pupil who prefers to remain anonymous, laid a charge against the man.
She has told Newswatch she felt a sense of victory when her uncle was convicted.
Childline KZN says there has been an increase in the number of cases where people are sexually abused by someone they know.
It says victims often chose to withdraw their cases when family members are involved.
South Africa is currently marking Child Protection Week.
