Students give silent standing ovation for peer with Autism at graduation
Updated | By Justin James
The class of 2019 from a New York high school expressed their excitement for their peer at his graduation in a less-than-traditional yet thoughtful way.

Jack Higgins is truly an incredible individual who recently graduated from Carmel High School in New York - and his story is touching the hearts of many around the world.
Higgins has autism and is highly sensitive to loud noises, it was reported by On Air With Ryan Seacrest.
When attending a graduation ceremony, there are usually loud noises, claps, and cheers from attendees, however, with help from attendees and his fellow students, they made it bearable for Jack to receive his high school diploma without fear.
The crowd remained silent while he walked proudly on stage, and gave a silent standing ovation until he made his way off the stage.

Expecting to hear the loud noises, Jack walked to the podium with his ears covered, but when he realises that there's silence, he removes his make-shift earplugs, and accepts his diploma with pride.
Silence is truly golden, and it must have been something truly spectacular to witness this momentous moment.
