Janet Legemaate is the KZN Representative of the Organ Donor Foundation.
Janet wrote to The Big Favour asking us to help spread the word about the desperate need for organ donors in South Africa.
Janet says, "Of the 4300 people waiting for a transplant in South Africa, less than 600 will receive a transplant this year."
Janet says only 0.3% of South Africa's population are organ donors and that KZN has the lowest number of donors registered.
We also spoke to Janet's 18-year-old son, Matthew who has been waiting four years for a heart and bi-lateral lungs.
Matthew is slowly deteriorating and is on oxygen 24 hours a day.
