For the naysayers and the uninformed who constantly said that AKA was the one who put Da L.E.S onto this new wave, Siyabonga Ngwekazi has a few words for you.

Since AKA and Da L.E.S linked up as friends and musical associates, we’ve seen the dynamic duo grow into one successful hip hop tag team.

When the success of Jozi (Da L.E.S’ hip hop group) came to an end, Da L.E.S successfully launched his own solo career, churning out hits like Fire and Tippy Toes.

Since then it’s been nothing but a smooth journey for the North God. Enter AKA, who’s solo career is nothing short of a success story itself. However, to some, the hook up between the two rappers was seen more as a help for Da L.E.S than a collaboration.

However, in an interview with Slikour Onlife, Siyabonga Ngwekazi asked people to respect Da L.E.S' contribution to local hip hop and to AKA’s career.

“Big up to Les! Superstar!....I know you don’t hear his rhymes, but you have to understand Les moved to South Africa from Texas at 10 years old and he moved straight to Bryanston when they were still building it up.

"So don’t hate, just understand what a superstar needs to be and feel and that’s why AKA said: ‘I be with the North God living easy.’ That’s who put the boy (AKA) on? That’s my team mate! You already thinking ‘Yo, Les needs to thank AKA.’ And they gotta thank each other but don’t disrespect the other yin of the yang," Scoop said.
