The media’s often criticised for its depiction of women, especially on the covers of glossy magazines.
Airbrushing and photoshopping have become essential in many publications often distorting a woman’s true appearance and body image.
Colbie’s new single, “Try,” takes a stab at these constructed representations of women in the media.
In her music video, women sing the lyrics of the song with heavy make-up at the beginning. As the song progresses, you see the fake eyelashes and excessive make-up come off.
The track encourages women to embrace their natural beauty and celebrate who they are.
