R50 000 awarded to Fields Hill Helping Hands
Updated | By tanstan fourie

It was an emotional moment for the entire team on East Coast Breakfast this morning, when some much needed funds exchanged hands.
This is thanks to the generosity of the Dis-Chem Foundation through its Paying- it -Forward initiative. Local NPO, the Fields Hill Helping Hands received R50 000. The group assists those affected by the horrendous truck accident at the bottom of Fields Hill the 5th September 2013.
Founder Karen Janisch says the donation will go a long way toward helping those families who lost loved ones in the horrific accident, as well as those who survived the tragedy.
Their aim is to:
Collect non-perishable food items, clothes and blankets to distribute equally to the families of victims and survivors.
To assist FHHH Families with claiming for the Road Accident Fund.
To encourage FHHH Families with ongoing support in the form of counseling by qualified counsellors.
And to love, support, nurture FHHH Families during time of healing and recovery.
Karen was over the moon when Darren announced that Dis-Chem Foundation would like to lend a hand.
Take a listen to Karen’s heartfelt reaction on-air this morning:
