Adoptees of the week
Updated | By Abi Ray

There are so many animals sitting in shelters all over Kwazulu Natal just waiting for a loving family to take them home.
The sad fact is that animals get lost, abandoned or even worse, abused, all the time.
The ones who are lucky enough to get rescued end up sitting in shelters for months because people think that they aren't good enough, simply because they aren't bought from a breeder or a shop.
The 'Adopt don't shop' stance is one that I truly believe in, and therefore will feature a few adoptees from various shelters in KZN, every week on Animal Antics.
There are contact details for each little furkid, so if you are willing to love and care for one of these animals for the rest of their life, please dont hesitate to call.
There will be a small adoption fee as well as a compulsary home check.
1. Tashen - 4 Paws & Tale Rescue
A happy go lucky Ridgeback x boy of about 14 months. He is great with other dogs, and might be a bit shy when first meeting you, but will warm up quickly. He is currently in a rural area, where the team feeds him daily and we gave him shelter. He deserves better! A loving family he can be part of!
He is available for adoption in Durban and surrounding areas and South Coast down to Margate.
Please contact Nicky on 084 626 5508 for more info. Strict home check and post adoption follow ups apply, as well as non negotiable sterilization.
2. Ziggy - Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment
Ziggy is a beautiful +-4 year old German Shepherd. He was found as a stray in Phoenix with a poor skin problem brought about by immune deficiency. After weeks of treatment, he is all better and happy and is ready to find his forever home. He is great with other dogs and is fully house trained.

3. An unnamed mommy and her babies - Mazarat Kennels
Brenda rescued a mom and her 11 pups from a township on Sunday. She and her puppies are at the Mazarat Kennels. We are very worried that she won't find homes for all the precious little Afrikanus puppies. Brenda says, "The mom was so covered in ticks and terrified and I have been going to see them every night, just to sit with them in the little kennel and give them lots of love, and last night was the first time I did not see the terror in the moms eyes. She even lay down and closed her eyes and went to sleep while the 11 little babies were feeding. It made me get tears in my eyes."
Please call Mazarat Kennels if you can help in any way - 082 978 5946.
