Zondo in the hot seat for Chief Justice position
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The last of the four candidates hoping to be the country's next Chief Justice is in the hot seat on Friday.

Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has told the Judicial Service Commission it's an honour and privilege that the President Cyril Ramaphosa decided to include him among those he nominated for the consideration for the position of Chief Justice.
"I do not come here thinking that I am entitled to any position. I am not entitled to any position. The president has the prerogative to appoint who he decides to appoint."

During the first 30 minutes, where Zondo was afforded an opportunity to tell the commission why he should be the next Chief Justice, he said it was not his attitude that because he is Deputy Chief Justice, he should automatically take on the role.
"It is not my attitude either that I am Acting Chief Justice, I am Deputy Chief Justice - I am better than the other candidates. I see myself in the same way as the other candidates for whom I have a lot of respect, each and every one of them."
