Veteran actor, Joe Mafela's tombstone unveiled

Having been part of the living rooms of many South Africans, veteran actor Joe Mafela was honoured with a unique tombstone at his final resting place.

The actor died at the age of 74 after being involved in a car accident earlier this month.
Family, friends and colleagues said their final goodbyes to the 74-year-old yesterday where his tombstone was revealed at the University of Johannesburg's Soweto campus.
Speaking at the during the meorial, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa said the legend managed to break down pre-democracy barriers, and for the first time, being part of an echelon of actors that depicted black characters on their own terms.
A testament to his legacy, Mafela was one of South Africa's most adored actors.
He has made appearances in Sgudi Snaysi, Madam and Eve, Fela's TV and more recently, Generations: The Legacy.
