The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) in KwaZulu-Natal has called for calm following the murder of a taxi boss in the Tongaat CBD.

He was sitting in a vehicle at a local taxi rank on Wednesday when he was ambushed by gunmen.
He died on the scene.
Santaco's Sifiso Shangase says they are not aware of any tensions between taxi associations in the area.
"We are also pleading with members of the community or members of the mini-bus taxi that are involved; please if there are any differences that people have, let's resolve these issues in a boardroom situation.
"As Santaco, we are pleading that there should be calm and wait for the law enforcement to be able to give us feedback."
Reaction Unit South Africa attended the scene.
"Several armed men with rifles were opening fire on a white Audi. Reaction officers and paramedics were dispatched to the Tongaat taxi rank and, upon arrival, found a male seated in a vehicle," says spokesperson Prem Balram.
"He was slumped over the steering and he suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased by paramedics a short while later. The man was identified as a local taxi boss and the shooting is believed to be taxi-related."
