PMB teen who abandoned baby charged with murder

A 19-year-old woman accused of throwing her 6-month-old baby into a river near Pietermaritzburg will remain behind bars until her next court appearance.

The teen appeared in the Maritzburg Magistrate's Court today after being arrested on Wednesday.
The National Prosecuting Authoity's Natasha Ramkisson Kara says she faces a murder charge.
"The accused appeared at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court today and was charged with one count of murder. The matter was remanded to the 24th of January for bail consideration," she says.
The baby had been thrown into the Msunduzi river in the vicinity of Woodhouse Road.
