PICS: N3 closed after cobalt spill at Townhill
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
Traffic officials have warned that the N3
heading towards Durban at Townhill is set to be closed for most of Friday
following a collision between two trucks.

Road Traffic Inspectorate's Colin Govender says the collision has caused chaos.
"We are diverting traffic at Peter Brown through the Pietermaritzburg CBD. All the trucks are being stacked currently," he said.
"This scene is going to take quite a while to clear up, and we are going to go well into the evening before this road is reopened."
It is understood that the collision on Peter Brown Drive has resulted in hundreds of oranges left scattered across the road.

Govender says the other trucks were carrying a green powder identified as cobalt.
"The fire services are still trying to establish how severe this product is to the normal person who will be infected with the breathing in of this powder.
"So right now the scene is being cordoned off."
One of the drivers has been taken to the hospital.
