Residents in KZN can breathe a sigh of relief as the South African Weather Service has predicted lighter rainfall for this weekend.
This comes as Disaster Management teams have been placed on high alert as KZN braces itself for heavy rain and thunderstorms. Areas in the western parts of the province, including Newcastle, Nquthu, Duversely, Vryheid and Dumbe in Zululand have been identified as those likely to be affected.
Meteorologist, Aslam Sardiwalla, says temperatures will be lower.
"Today we are expecting more partly cloudy conditions across the province. So there will be an improvement in the weather, however, it will be come partly cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers developing in the west and moving eastwards towards the coast by the evening," he said.
"For Sunday it looks like it will be another cloudy day across the province with intermittent rain and showers throughout the day," Sardiwalla said.
Since the start of this week, there's been a heavy downpour of rain throughout the country with the Western parts of the province worst affected.
