The death toll from a horrific crash in northern KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend has risen to nine.

Eight people died on the scene after a collision between a tow truck and a light delivery vehicle on the N2 near Empangeni.
Sixteen others survived the crash.
KZN Transport spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya said another person has died in the hospital.
"Sadly, yesterday (Monday) afternoon, during our consultation with families in Ward 03 and Ward 02 in Umtubatuba Local Municipality, another church member succumbed to severe injuries and passed away at Ngwelezane Hospital."
The twenty-four passengers were travelling on the back of the light delivery vehicle.
They are members of the Zion Christian Church, who were on their way to Mtubatuba.
"As we prepare for the funeral service, we are working jointly with the Road Accident Fund and the Department of Social Development,” Sibiya said.
"In view of the fact that most of the victims were breadwinners, efforts will be made to ensure that all processes are followed to ease the burden on the families."
