Westville man stabbed, shot dead during house robbery
Police are investigating a case of murder after a 55-year-old Westville man was shot and killed in his home this morning.
It's believed the man was woken up after a brick was thrown through a window.
When he went to investigate, he was confronted by a group of suspects who were already in the house.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the man was stabbed twice before he was shot.
"The suspects also took some property from the house before they fled the scene. No arrests have been made at this stage and we are still investigating the matter," he said.
The Daily News reporting that the man had been trying to protect his wife when he took on the robbers armed with a knobkerrie.
The couple are reported to have only moved into the house in November.
