Umlazi shootings leave 1 dead, 1 injured
A person has died and another has been left injured during two separate shootings in Umlazi yesterday, one at a tavern close to the infamous Glebelands hostel.
In the first incident, at T-Section, a man died after he was shot 6 times. In the second incident, at F-Section, a man was shot in the hand and taken to hospital.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele, says circumstances surrounding the shootings are unknown.
"For now no arrests have been made. The deceased had sustained 6 gunshot wounds. The identity of the man will not be disclosed for now," she said.
"His identity will only be disclosed once his next of kin has been contacted," Mbhele said.
"The motive of the shooting is not known at this point but the Umlazi SAPS are investigating," she said.
