UJ arson attack: Classes will not be suspended

The University of Johannesburg says it will not allow the education and training of thousands of students to be disrupted by a few.
Deputy vice chancellor Mpho Letlape briefed the media yesterday after a thousand seater auditorium was gutted in an apparent arson attack.
''We will not give this small group of criminals the pleasure of disrupting teaching or disrupting learning and research at the University of Johannesburg, our university remains open,'' she said.

UJ says classes at the institution will continue. Arrangements are being made to ensure tests and exams continue as scheduled.
Management says it will cost in the region of R100 million to replace and rebuild property destroyed in the fire.
