The university's management said classes would resume at all campuses today, after they were again suspended the day before.

Students were adamant, saying they will shut down all campuses until their demand for free higher education is met.

Police spokesperson, Sally de Beer said police are monitoring the situation.

"The police calls upon all students, student leaders and other role players to act within the confines of the law at all times and not to contravene the Regulation of Gatherings Act, commit acts of violence or intimidate other persons," she said.

TUT spokesperson Willa de Ruyter said despite the protest action students were attending classes on all campuses.

"The university is committed to ongoing engagement with student leaders and there have been meetings with SRC over the last couple of weeks. They handed over memoranda with issues and these issues were addressed.

"As far as institutional issues are concerned, the majority of them has been resolved and it has also been explained to the students that as far as 'Fees Must Fall' is concerned, it's a national issue and we need to engage with the Department of Higher Education and Training," she said.
