Three killed, five injured in Durban crash
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Three people have died and five others have been left injured after a taxi and a car collided at the corner of Wiltshire Road and Hans Dettman Road in Durban, this morning.
It is believed one of the vehicles had failed to come to a stop.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says the three people killed were travelling in the smaller car.
"Unfortunately, three occupants from the light motor vehicle had sustained serious injuries and passed away prior to paramedics arriving. There was nothing further that could be done to save them and they were declared dead on scene," he said.
A further five people from both vehicles also sustained serious injuries and were stabilised on scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics. They were then transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care.
"At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however the police were in attendance and will conduct a thorough investigation," Jamieson said.
