SA, US reach agreement over meat imports
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The Trade and Industry Department says South Africa and the United States have resolved their dispute and the country will now be able to participate in the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

Minister Rob Davies says South Africa will sample all consignments for the next three months.
"First of all, we're being told that there will be no product that comes from the US into South Africa that does not come from establishments that are certified in the US as safe to provide products for human consumption in the US.
"Then, on top of that - we reserve the right to monitor that product when it comes in in a way that doesn't inordinately interrupt the trade as we're doing that," he said.
