Police have stormed the grounds of the Oval residence to search the building after three petrol bombs were found on campus earlier today.

The police entered in two nyalas.

The entrance had been blocked with razor wire which the officers removed before making their way into E block - which is one of the five residences on the grounds of Oval residence.

They searched rooms and questioned students occupying them. Many were visibly terrified - shaking as they lay face down on the floor.

Police have also cleared the campus roads which were littered with rubbish and unlocked all the entrances that were barricaded by students.

While the situation is calm at the moment, there has been intermittent bottle throwing by students since the early hours of the morning.

Some campus roads have been cordoned off following this morning's violence.

A taxi driver was also caught in the crossfire earlier with his window hit by a rock.

Some students making their way to lectures have also been targets and rocks were hurled their way.

Yesterday, there were chaotic scenes at the university - as police used stun grenades, teargas and rubber bullets to disperse students who had been throwing rocks and glass bottles down from the multi-storey Oval residence.

Students also used their ironing boards as shields when police retaliated, in a bid to stop and disperse them.
