Man crushed to death by tree in Westville

In what has been described as a freak accident a man has been killed after a large tree fell on his car in Westville.
Emergency services say tree-fellers were busy cutting down trees along Essex Terrace yesterday afternoon. The man said to be a local dentist had been driving in his car on that road when one of the trees came down and crushed his vehicle.
ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak, says the man had died by the time they got to him.
"Paramedics found man entrapped in the vehicle. Sadly there was nothing more they could do to save him as he showed signs of fatal injuries.
"He was declared dead in his vehicle and the matter was later handed over to the police for further investigation," he said.
