Ten people died when the bus carrying ANC members who were returning home from the party's manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth crashed.

A 31-year-old driver was taken in following the accident yesterday but is not held in police custody.

The other driver is still at a hospital in Welkom where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Both men will be charged for culpable homicide.

Meanwhile, South Africans are being asked to keep the families of those who died and those injured in yesterday's Free State bus crash in their thoughts.

President Jacob Jacob Zuma has sent his condolences to the affected families asking South Africans to keep them in the prayers during this time.

Zuma has also wished those in hospital a speedy recovery adding that the party is still in deep shock after the horrific accident.

Opposition parties have also been sending messages of support with the IFP urging authorities to act swiftly to determine the cause of the accident so that the families can find closure.

Cope has also expressed its condolences, saying it is painful to have lost so many lives especially when they had been coming from a celebratory event.

President Zuma has also used the opportunity to send condolences to the families of the other three people who died when the vehicle they were in plunged into a river in Pietermaritzburg yesterday.
