Council meetings are suspended until the court pronounces itself on the legitimate EFF representative.

The uMkhanyakude and uMzinyathi District Municipalities have been unable to hold their first council meetings as there was no definite winner following the local government elections.

The department released a statement yesterday saying that it's engaging with a legal advisor to address the crisis.

Spokesperson, Lennox Mabaso says at this point in time their interests will be to ensure that service delivery does not get disrupted.
