Bakkie hauls massive truck out of ditch
Updated | By East Coast Drive
Never underestimate the power of a bakkie!
Amazing footage captured by Nicola and Chrisscha Swanepoel shows a Toyota Hilux pulling a massive 19-ton truck out of a ditch in the Northern Cape.
The truck’s trailers were seen blocking a road near the Vanderkloof Dam, thus obstructing traffic in both directions. The driver of the Hilux, 24-year-old Thinus ‘Floors’ Bredenkamp, used a tow rope to move the 10-ton truck and 9-ton trailer out of the ditch.

Thinus noticed the truck was stuck when he was on his way to Hopetown on Monday. All it took was a strong rope and one powerful bakkie to budge the front wheel, and eventually remove the truck from the ditch. The driver of the truck spoke to Wheels24 and thanked the driver for rescuing the truck and helping him avoid high towing costs.
Next time you see a bakkie, don’t underestimate its power.
