Here's what happened when the East Coast Radio Breakfast Tour pulled in to Margate and Port Shepstone.

It was cold on the South Coast, but the love shown to Darren, Natarah and team was enough to warm their hearts!

Our East Coast Radio Breakfast Tour wrapped up the second leg of its province-wide tour on Monday with a live broadcast near the Lighthouse in Port Shepstone.

After the team spent the evening singing their hearts out at the Cock & Tail in Margate, Monday dawned beautiful:

And cold - for the Durbanites!

Blessed with a magnificent sunrise and a heart-warming reception from local residents, the three hour show saw Darren, Natarah-From-A-Far-Rah and Good Guy Gabe scoffing down some of the best pancakes on the South Coast and being serenaded by Sharon Jones and her team from the Genesis Trust.

The Breakfast team met old friends and made new ones. They also met smarty pants Tenishia Jacobs from Uvongo. The 12-year-old won R2 000 playing the Kids' Grand Challenge, completely unfazed by the pressure of being live on-air!

South Coast residents streamed in throughout the 6am to 9am broadcast, with many mums and dads bringing their children to take pics with the team, before heading off to school. Darren was absolutely blown away by all the love. “Beautiful scenery and even more beautiful people. What a combination here on the South Coast! Am absolutely blown away,” he said, before dashing off to sign more autographs and take more pics.

Last night, at Sundowners at the Cock &Tail in Margate, local listeners got the chance to settle a longstanding feud between Darren and Natarah: Which one of them is the better singer? Well, it was a hands-down win for Natarah but Darren brought the house down with his nifty (or crazy) dance moves!

While Justin Mackrory, CEO of Ugu South Coast Tourism, chatted about the top 10 reasons why he loves and lives on the South Coast, the gorgeous ladies from the Hibiscus Rotary Anns flipped pancakes for the team (and to raise funds).

Among those who came down to say hello and share a cup of coffee and muffin with Darren and the team, was Dries Coetzee, dad of Sharks and Springbok player, Marcell Coetzee. Dad Coetzee shared anecdotes and chatted about Marcell’s childhood in Port Shepstone (he went to the Suid Natal Primary School in Port Shepstone).

“A beautiful morning with warm, loving, fantastic people. What more could I ask for?” mused Darren, as he boarded the East Coast Radio Breakfast Tour bus. “Thank you Port Shepstone. You were incredible!”

The team is now set to spread some love in Nottingham Road for the third stop of the tour.
