Stop! Adopt!

Stop! Adopt!

Once again, it's time to encourage people to adopt an animal rather than buy one.

This week I encountered people who refused to listen to any reasoning with regards to adopting an animal from a shelter. In their opinion they just wouldn't have it because "I do not know the history of the animal and I don't trust that".

This is an ignorant opinion because the shelters who do the amazing work rescuing and rehabilitating the animals DO in fact know their history. They also have professionals assessing the animal when they come in, to make sure that each animal is homed correctly; with only dogs if it hates cats, with no children if they are uncertain;with a full family if the animal has no issues around children.

This is the very reason for all the questions they ask before adoption time - they must know that each family and animal is paired perfectly.

Please consider opening your heart and home to former loved animals, neglected ones, and abused ones - they need lots of love and will be your best friend in return.

Each shelter will have an adoption fee and a strict home check is compulsary.

1. Tashen - 4 Paws & A Tale Rescue

Tashen has no human to call his own, and we currently have nowhere to take him. He has just been neutered, and we feed him every morning. He is about a year old.

He currently hangs out in a rural area, where he is relatively safe, there are other dogs for him to play and be silly with…but he deserves a home and family, with a comfy bed and cuddles!

If you are interested in helping this gorgeous boy by fostering or adoption, please contact Nicky on 084 626 5508 or email her [email protected]

2. Mason - Puppy SOS KZN

Mason is an 8 week old Staffy cross. Every now and then a very special one comes along and this is him! He has the most amazing calm and loving personality.

Contact David, puppysoskzn@gmail.com or call him on 0743390405

3. Male doggy - Toti SPCA

This beautiful big boy is a wonderful, energetic boy who needs to find a home to call his own urgently as he needs plenty of space to run around in. He unfortunately would have to be an only dog as he does not get along with other dogs. He looks fierce but he loves attention and he loves to go on walks. He makes people feel safe just because of his size. For more information please phone us on 031 904 2424/5 or email us on [email protected]. To be homed in the Durban area only.

4. Female dog - SPCA Toti

This beautiful young loving girl is desperately looking for a loving home where she can cuddle with her new owners and maybe have a dog pal or two. She generally gets along with everyone and is also a very alert dog. Please come and visit her at SPCA Amanzimtoti grounds, 1 Nyati Road, Athlone Park or call us on 031 904 2424/5. You can also email us on [email protected].  Please note that she can only be homed in the Durban area.
