Roxi Wardman wins MasterChef SA!
Updated | By Staff Writer
The 26-year-old's win makes it three wins for Durban since the cooking show started in South Africa - which basically means Durban rocks!
Deena Naidoo was the first Durbanite to scoop the title, followed by Kamini Pather who lives in Cape Town but was born and raised in Durban - so we are claiming that one too.
Roxi beat Cape Town domestic worker, Siphokazi Mdlankomo, by eight points.
She says she is proud to have carried Durban's flag high during the competition.
Before wowing the the judges with her culinary skills, she worked as a ex-assistant train driver.
"It's unbelievable; it really does show that your dreams can come true and your life can change," says Roxi.
She says her favourite Durban dish has to be a mutton bunny.
"But it has to be prepared really well. The meat must be extremely soft and it must not have any little cinnamon sticks or seeds - that's like the worst in a bunny chow," she said.
What next for Roxi?
She wants to open her own cafe and patisserie.
Congrats, Roxi!
