Not man enough for Man Flu
Over the last six days, my health hit rock bottom. I’d never felt so bad in two years. I’d succumbed to, wait for it…The Man Flu. This isn’t the first time I’d heard of it. It is however the first time I’d experienced it.
Now, scientists have known about it for a while. I guess they didn't have my e-mail address to forward me the memo.
I don’t agree very often with the higher grade kids or experts. Everything to them is hypothetical or a debate as far as health research is concerned. However, in this particular case study, the clever kids, I believe, got it right.
Some people say men complain excessively when we get sick and throw ourselves a pity party for our Man Flu problems. I’m here to tell you that the Man Flu is real. I’ve experienced it and I’ve lived to tell the tale.
The experts have pointed out that the Man Flu does not attack humans with XX chromosomes. In other words ladies, you are safe.
The scientists agree that dudes have more temperature receptors in the brain than women, which’s why experience worse symptoms and suffer more with coughs and colds.
Some guys have taken this thinking a step further. They say this is also probably why it’s easier for women to lodge for a divorce than men. However, I’m not ready to be assassinated yet, so let’s leave that debate for another day.
Now back to my sniffles. Researchers say a Man Flu sufferer’s pain can be equivalent to child birth. This means, I have been in labour for five straight days.
Thankfully, I can count on my trusted menthol-flavoured triple-ply tissues, wet-cough mixture, Echinacea extracts, Bio-Strath vitamins, cold & flu effervescent tablets, A. Vogel’s Sore Throat Spray, hand sanitizer and eucalyptus oil to help me get better. And no mum this isn’t a bit excessive.
