Farm workers living in oppressive conditions: Union
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The union says despite being 21 years into democracy, many workers do not receive benefits, such as provident funds.
It says many people also battle without water and electricity while some work for more than 12 hours at a time.
The union's August Mbhele says they're currently dealing with 100 such cases out of a possible 10 000 workers on the south coast.
"You can see the situation is not okay. However at the end of the day we have managed to go out and bring the matter before the CCMA. There is only one matter we are fighting for - an organisational right," he said.
