Happy Birthday Traffic Guy!
Stevie Wonder, The Boss and Richard Dean Anderson aka Macgyver are all good looking 64-year-olds. When it comes to brawn, brains and bigheartedness though, these ballies have got nothing on our very own Traffic Guy, Johann von Bargen.
The Oom, as he’s affectionately known, marks his 64th birthday today! Natarah reminisces about the first day she met ECR’s silver fox almost eight years ago. She says, “I remember this very charming, soft-spoken and sweet gentleman who walked over to my desk to say hello.”
She says she’d just started work and didn’t think anyone would take notice of her what with her being the ‘newbie’ and all.
“No one introduced us but JVB didn’t care. He came over and introduced himself and offered to get me a cappuccino!” Our East Coast Breakfast co-host says she was awe-struck. From that day, Johann von Bargen had captured Natarah’s heart.
She’s not the only one who’s fallen in love with our handsome Traffic informer. Hundreds of thousands of motorists tune in everyday to find out the best way to plan their route to school and work. One listener mentioned to Natarah a few months ago, “That JVB is a real lifesaver hey?”
For everything you do for our travellers Oom, we salute you! Thank you for also being the hero in the lives of many families with your daily driving tips and anti-hijacking advice. We love you, lots and lots and lots!

People have a lot of respect for these 3s and there is another man that we know that has an impeccable reputation and commands respect. If after 30 years you still have a good reputation and the respect of your peers then you are a fine person indeed.
