Fashion is an instant language

Fashion is an instant language

Miuccia Prada, the Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur behind Prada and Miu Miu, once famously said this - and Jane couldn't agree more.

I adore this quote, and ain’t that the truth.

I read somewhere that it takes as little as seven seconds for someone to suss you out on your first meeting.

I know some people find it really hard to put clothes and style together - or should I say, it doesn't come easy.

Kind of like me in the kitchen; I would screw up a boiled egg if given half the chance.

I hate dressing in a rush and in fact would rather die than have to dress on the move i.e. pack my clothes the night before and dress at the gym. Shock, horror nooooooo!

For me getting dressed every morning is very much about how I feel on that particular day and what song is playing while I lay out my options.

Daily I am inspired by music, colour and I love clashing prints. “Less is more” most certainly does not apply in my world.

Every time you step out the house think “what does what I'm wearing say about me”.

Be bold. Have fun. Be you.

Left to right:

A fabulous Carol Clark (so love her and her work) mad print dress. Puma leggings, Puma olive green wooden instep sky wedge designed in collaboration with Japanese fashion designer Mihara Yasuhiro, Carrara sunnies ( Classic Eyes) Lauren Ginn Accessories , bright orange Nixon watch.

Rollin Vintage rings (made out of bent silver sugar spoons) and coin rings made by my beautiful friend Samke (one has my birth year on it, she searched for ages to find it - so dear) hand chain from a market and an armful of red and green bangles

Black and white mini hound’s-tooth Puma trinomic wedges, these can seriously make you fly.

Nectarine necklace - a gift from my late mom-in-law (rest in peace Netty) and a Peter Engblom pin I picked up from Anthology (one of my best) (fab coffee and the quirkiest home decor and fashion nik-naks)
