Worry over escalating Umlazi hostel violence
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Community Safety Willies Mchunu is calling for a complete end to the killings at the troubled Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi south of Durban.

Mchunu made the call yesterday after two men were killed at Block 52 on Saturday night.
He says police have initiated a high level investigation into the latest incident.
Mchunu has described the situation at the hostel as unacceptable, adding that extra-ordinary interventions are needed to end the ongoing violence.
Bongani Hlophe and Bandile Ngcobo were brutally murdered at the facility.
The latest murders follow the death of two other Glebelands Hostel residents who were gunned down at a shopping centre in Montclair about a month ago.
One person has been arrested in connection with that shooting.
The suspect, thought to be linked to another killing as well, is due to appear in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court today.
Mchunu says the modus operandi of the latest murders appear similar to earlier incidents suggesting those involved in the crimes know each other.
