An Umlazi teenager has taken top honours in an international writing contest

I love hearing good news stories especially from local achievers.
18 year-old Mfundo Radebe from Umlazi has won top honours in the senior category of the My Magna Carta International creative essay competition in the UK.
Youngsters in the UK and Commonwealth countries were invited to create their own Magna Carta, not the Jay-Z album, but rather a charter document signed by King John of England which influenced many constitutions.
Mfundo is a matric pupil at Crawford College and he loves politics and law, and in his essay, he tackled the issue of “Limiting the powers of government: South Africa’s Magna Carta.
“I talk a lot about how I believe South Africa’s constitution is the most liberal constitution that the 21st century has seen, but in its implementation, we see the issues,” he said.
Go on, clap for him!
