It is that weird time where it’s technically spring but still kind of chilly.

Well don’t you worry about a thing.

Miss Buttons has five trend tips for you to try this Sunday while you rock out to nine of South Africa's favourite artists at Durban Day.

Go Print Crazy

One of the hottest trends this side of winter is prints. Mix prints, match prints (if you must) or tone down prints with a pair of white skinny denims or ripped denims - another “must do” trend.

I love this Aztec bodycon dress for R79.99 from Mr. Price, or this bird print golfer for him at R99.99, also from Mr. Price.

Ripped Denim

Wearing the new ripped denim trend doesn’t have to mean you look homeless. You want to go for a well-worn effect. This look works well with a statement or printed tee. It also goes so well with a good sneaker.  Cotton On and Topshop both a have a wide variety to choose from. Remember, this trend looks just as hot in a boyfriend cut as it does in a skinny silhouette.

The Statement Tee

The Olsen twins made this basic idea super stylish. It takes the saying of ‘wearing your heart on your sleeve” to a whole new level and fashionista’s across the globe are loving it. The coolest part is you can buy you own plain basic tee and screen-print your own sayings on.  Woolworths, Edgars, Mr. Price and Jay Jays all have a selection on offer.

My favourite is this one an ‘at-home-mum’ made her daughter.

Kicks

Sneakers have become the new IPhone cover. It’s all about the most original, pimping kicks. The great news is, this is the perfect look for a music festival. From Converse chucks, Nikes or Tomy tekkies make sure you’re wearing a pair. Browse though www.superbalist.com if you’re looking for some serious cool.

The Kimono

The whimsical kimono is still around this season but she should NOT be worn with any of the above trends, except ‘ripped denim’. She is the music festival princess and should be worn with caution. Think bohemian princess - so gladiator sandals, pretty jumpsuits or a basic vest with a pair of ripped denim shorts. The kimono just screams ‘Durban Girl’ so it’s definitely my favourite pick to wear to this Durban Day. The best place to find a cute kimono is the I Heart Market, be there this Saturday.

PS: Don't forget sunscreen and a hat!
