Radebe has been speaking at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto where hundreds have gathered to pay their respects to the midfielder who died on Wednesday from stomach cancer.

Radebe says Shoes was the consummate professional.

''We've lost not only the skill that Shoes had but we lost the knowledge that he could have imparted with us. Shoes has hung his boots forever but we'll never forget him. Shoes will always live in our minds, we'll always emulate him,'' he said.

Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba recalled a time when he coached Vaal Reef Stars and Shoes was playing for Giant Blackpool.

''The score was 0-0 but guess what, in the the last three minutes of the 90 minutes, Shoes broke through and he scored a goal. All the way from the bench to the dressing room they kept on saying, 'I had told you guys to pick Shoes man','' he said.
