South Africa A spot for Wiese

South Africa A spot for Wiese

David Wiese, one of the heroes of the Ticketpro Proteas victory over the West Indies in the final KFC T20 international at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead last night, has been called up to the South Africa A squad for the one-day series against the England Lions.

Wiese provides cover for Ryan McLaren who has suffered a grade 2 strain of the left hamstring which will require a recovery period of 2 to 4 weeks. McLaren will remain with the squad for the rehabilitation process.

Wiese topped the bowling averages in the three-match T20 series with 9 wickets at 9.55 which was more than twice as many wickets as any other bowler on either side. He finished the series with a five-wicket haul. Wiese is only the second South African bowler after McLaren to achieve this feat in the shortest format.

Revised SA A one-day squad: Justin Ontong (Nashua Cape Cobras, capt), Theunis de Bruyn (The Unlimited Titans), Marchant de Lange (The Unlimited Titans), Dean Elgar (The Unlimited Titans), Simon Harmer (Chevrolet Warriors), Beuran Hendricks (Nashua Cape Cobras), Reeza Hendricks (Chevrolet Knights), Eddie Leie (bizhub Highveld Lions), Ryan McLaren (Sunfoil Dolphins), Chris Morris (bizhub Highveld Lions), Kagiso Rabada (bizhub Highveld Lions), Mthokozisi Shezi (Nashua Cape Cobras), Stiaan van Zyl (Nashua Cape Cobras), Dane Vilas (Nashua Cape Cobras), David Wiese (The Unlimited Titans), Khaya Zondo (Sunfoil Dolphins).
