Reasons why AmaZulu are bottom

This calls for urgent action, which starts with scrutinising the situation to detect the problem.

No offence, but I think the club barely has a squad that can fight for a place in the PSL, let alone challenge for honours. Over the past couple of seasons AmaZulu have lost key players to the so-called big teams, obviously for financial reasons. Imagine how competitive the team would be with the likes of Lehlohonolo Majoro, Thamsanqa Sangweni, Brilliant Khuzwayo, Thamsanqa Teyise etc on board. The club also strangely decided not to acquire Sthembiso Ngcobo's services on an outright deal after he had a stint with them on loan from Kaizer Chiefs. I also can't get my head around their decision to let go of a talented player like Njabulo Manqana. Every team needs to have at least one key player in every department which is something Usuthu lacks.

Vice-captain Ayanda Dlamini's injury at the beginning of the season also proved a terrible blow. The new signings have failed to make their presence felt and I don't see them making any impact, judging from their previous records. The least they could have done was to loan players to strengthen every department. It's good to note though that the team only lost 2 players in the previous transfer window (Thamsanqa Teyise and Lucky Nguzana) which means, coach Craig Rosslee's combination wasn't tampered with that much. The players need some motivation and winning their next game against Polokwane City might be the morale booster they need.

AmaZulu will visit Polokwane City in league action at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. The match gets underway at 18h00.

I am not saying that AmaZulu will be relegated this season, but that a survival battle is more likely than a trophy.
