The department's Robert Maake says diesel is set to decrease by 73-cents and 75-cents per litre, depending on the sulphur content.

He says paraffin will see a 93 cents a litre decrease while LP gas drops by 89-cents by per kilogram.

"The main reason for this decrease is the drop in the crude oil price during the period under review. We've also seen the weakening of the rand has reduced this benefit by around four cents," he said.

Predicting the decrease yesterday, an economist said it would be mainly due to the significant decline in the global oil price.
