New power deal will ease crisis: Zuma
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe
Zuma has been briefing the media in Johannesburg on progress made since his delivery of the State of the Nation Address earlier this year.
He has acknowledged that power cuts are costing the economy one percentage point in economic growth.
He says load shedding remains a big problem but he is satisfied by the continued improvement of operations and maintenance of power plants at Eskom.
''Eskom has signed short-term power purchase agreements that bring additional supply of electricity to cater for the shortfall due to maintenance and to match demand during peak periods.
''We'll continue to work towards a reliable energy mix to ensure energy security for now and the future,'' he said.
