Nap Time
Updated | By tanstan fourie
Have you ever been caught nodding off while at work, in a public place or even while having a conversation? The Breakfast team share their embarrassing nap time stories.

Gabriel:
'I remember at school we used to have double Geography once a week after the second lunch break. I remember it was so hot and we were so tired after a long day of learning.
There was a slight breeze but it didn’t help much. All I wanted to do was catch some serious 40 winks. I remember looking at the blackboard, zoning out and then seconds later I was out. I used to sit next to the wall so I would get into a nice comfy position and place my head in my hand. I would only wake up when the buzzer went off. It got so bad though that I once got kicked out of biology class for sleeping!'
Natarah:
I prefer waiting for new releases at the movie theatre to come out on DVD now. I don’t really enjoy going to the movies anymore. That’s because my other half chooses our movie date nights to catch up on sleep.
He doesn’t do it intentionally; it seems he can’t help himself. When we started going out he fell asleep during an action movie, a romcom and a drama.
Mak:
I seem to fall asleep a lot at movies, church, work, important meetings with the boss and pretty much everywhere. The thing is that it lasts for like five seconds. To me, however, those five seconds feel like an hour!
Darren:
I was at boarding school and we had to wake up at five in the morning to run 7km.
After that, we’d have a rusk, a cup of tea and then a wash. We’d attend two classes and then have breakfast. It was back to school and then lunch. In the afternoon, if you didn’t have sporting activities, you had to do prep for school - or what we now call homework.
You were always monitored during this time. We were so tired in the afternoons though. I devised the perfect sleeping plan for myself. The trick was to lean my chin into my hands with my elbows on the table. When the teacher came over to my table to scold me, I’d lift my head and say, “Amen!”
Have you hit the sack when you shouldn't have?
