Man shot dead in Maritzburg
A man has died after being shot in the Pietermaritzburg city centre this afternoon.
Paramedics say he was found lying on a pavement on Long Market Street in a critical condition.
ER24's Chitra Bodasing says a passerby was trying to help him when emergency medical services arrived.
"Paramedics began treating him for his injuries. However, despite all efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries," she said.
It is not known who shot the man and why. The shooting is being investigated by local police.
