Thandazile Mpunzi's body was found in a shallow grave over the weekend, nine days after she had been reported missing.

It is thought she was targeted because of her condition.

Mpunzi's blood-stained clothes were found near the home of a local traditional healer on Friday.

Three men who were arrested in connection with the murder at the weekend led police to the area where her body was found.

Spokesperson for the department Ncumisa Fandesi says witch doctors who claim, albino body parts can be used to make one wealthy should be banned.

''We had thought that people had moved past the stage where they believe all the kinds of nonsense being spread by people who just want to make a quick buck. Stories like killing a person with an albinism will make 'muthi' that would make a person wealthy and bring them luck,'' she said.

Meanwhile, the three men are set to appear in the Manguzi Magistrate's court soon.
