Igesund ready to assist successor

Outgoing Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says he is ready to help the SA Football Association in any way possible after his contract ends at the end of August.

"I wish Bafana only the best in the future and am ready to help the new coach wherever I can," said Igesund.

"Of course, that is if he is interested in the vast information I have compiled and tabulated on every single player, both locally and overseas, who can be considered a candidate for Bafana selection in the future, and that numbers almost 40 players in all."

In total, Igesund oversaw 32 games as national coach, winning 14, drawing nine and losing nine.

"I believe I did a pretty good job under difficult circumstances, reflected by the fact that we lost only one of the official Fifa competitive games in which Bafana participated during my tenure. "It was extremely disappointing to hear that I could not continue with a job that was only half done.

"We had formulated a definite and pleasing pattern of play, no matter which players were in the starting line-up, with matters improving all the time. "But all that is water under the bridge and I hold no grudges."

Igesund said he was prepared to hand over all these documents to the new coach and any other information required.

"At the same time, I understand every coach has his own ideas, and he might want to start all over again with a clean slate."

Meanwhile, Safa will put an end to speculation with their long-awaited announcement on the new Bafana coach following an executive meeting on Saturday.
